Spotlight on Tualatin s

The city of Tualatin is an extremely fast-growing and young community situated only 10 miles south of Portland and offers a respite in its charming small town atmosphere from the big city commotion. Its unique character is infused in the spirit of the residents who spend their time exploring the tree-lined streets of the city, enjoying the 200 acres of open parkland, paddling down the Tualatin River or attending the annual summer crawfish festival complete with a parade, activities in the park and great food. Another activity enjoyed by the residents of Tualatin is taking a stroll on the ArtWalk – a self-guided tour of Tualatin’s diverse public art, natural and cultural history, consisting of four interconnected trails which allow visitors to have an interactive experience interpreting the various art and history of the city.

Tualatin understands the importance of high-quality education. As a result, the city has worked hard to establish an award-winning school district. The Tigard-Tualatin School District, consisting of nine elementary, three middle and two high schools, has a variety of highly regarded athletic and academic programs such as the International Baccalaureate Program. While the kids are studying hard in school, professionals enjoy a wide variety of retail and service businesses; manufacturers; distributors; and light industrials as well as the cities major employers including the Tigard-Tualatin School District; Legacy Meridian Park Hospital; United Parcel Service; Interlogix; Fred Meyer; and the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue. With the influx of top-notch businesses over the last several years, Tualatin has a number of job opportunities available for the taking.

Tualatin also takes great pride in being recognized as “Tree City, USA” by the National Arbor Day Foundation which recognizes the community for its commitment to planting and maintaining trees. In the city’s effort to become “Tree City, USA,” a natural beautification process occurred in Tualatin, not only in the city, but in its parks as well. Tualatin Commons, a 19 acre park in the center of downtown, includes a pedestrian promenade around a three acre lake, public plazas, and an interactive fountain. In addition Community Park, located on the Tualatin River is the city’s largest park and offers something for everybody including an award winning skate park, a senior center, a community center, and youth activities and recreational services.

From its unique history and culture to its dedication to provide a beautiful, safe and thriving community, Tualatin is a great place to work, play and call home.
